Health Protocol

With the implementation of a strict health protocol* – developed in partnership with the institutions that make up Paulista Cultural, based on the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization, Ministry of Health, and by the State and Municipal Health Departments – JHSP has taken steps to provide a special and friendly experience to those already attending its facilities and to new visitors, now that social distancing is being eased, always providing safety, comfort, and well-being to everyone, including employees, contractors and suppliers. Additionally, the institution relied on specialized consultancy from Santa Cruz Hospital’s Department of Infectious Diseases, which assessed and ratified the effectiveness of the actions provided for in the rules for activity resumption.

Security Protocol

In this first phase, security practices adopted include:

  • Decrease in visitor capacity to 40%
  • Mandatory use of masks by both visitors and employees
  • Provision of hand sanitizer dispensers at various points
  • Disinfectant mats at the entrance to the institution
  • Measurement of all visitors’ body temperature
  • Marks on the floor to guarantee social distancing of 1.5 meter
  • Increased cleaning frequency in all areas
  • Signage and audible warnings reinforcing all instructions

And, to underpin protocol measures, all institution employees underwent specific training to welcome and guide visitors with the necessary care.

Another relevant point regards the air-conditioning system, which, together with the exhaust system, is able to exchange 100% of the institution’s internal air every 40 minutes, according to calculations made by the company responsible for equipment maintenance.

Restaurant Aizomê, Café Sabor Mirai, and Shin & Furoshiki shops

The services offered within the institution, such as the Aizomê Restaurant, Café Sabor Mirai, and the Shin and Furoshiki shops, will also be open and comply with the opening hours, with the cultural center’s protocols, and with other rules exclusive to their areas of operation. With visitor safety in mind, a few environments, such as the Internal garden and terrace, will also have their capacity reduced. The Library's books will not be available for consultation at this initial moment. For the time being, activities such as lectures, workshops, and guided tours have been suspended.

#JHSPONLINE

In addition to reopening for visitation, Japan House São Paulo will continue offering exclusive content about Japan on its digital platforms, through the #JHSPONLINE project, which was commenced immediately after the space was closed temporarily, expanding the dissemination of Japan's most diverse attractions.
